Technology Assessment and Roadmap for a Federally Chartered Foundation



The Story

A federally chartered foundation, independently fundraising to meet distribution and management goals for forest projects across the country, reached out to Build for assistance. Due to significant organizational growth, the staff faced challenges with the visibility of funding and program statuses across multiple locations within the organization. It was clear to Build that the current systems no longer served their growing needs. Each department heavily relied on spreadsheets, which caused delays in reporting, grant tracking, and obstacles with project management. Utilizing Build’s assessment and technology roadmap, we introduced an end-to-end solution, including the prequalification process to eliminate CRM and ERP systems that would not meet their requirements. The roadmap recommendations included improvements to the information system framework, data governance structure, new staffing, and continued steps towards a selection process. The organization hired a new business analyst and eagerly moved towards Build’s recommendation of becoming an early adopter of a fundraising engagement system.
